Hey there!

I wanted to share with you a strategy that I’ve had a lot of success with when it comes to using guest posts to rank a website. I think a lot of people just use guest posts in one way – they buy or outreach to relevant sites and once their post is published, that’s it. They don’t do anything else. Now, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that approach, but I like to think outside the box and use guest posts to their full potential.

Here’s how I use guest posts:

When I outreach to a site with the prospect of a guest post, I first analyze the site and look for 3-5 old posts that are already ranking for my target keywords (in the top 100), and that have some good UR/PA and ideally some decent RDs. Then, I request the blogger to interlink to my new guest post from those old posts using exact or partial match anchors. In my actual guest post, I only use brand anchors to link back to my site. I stopped using exact match anchors a long time ago because of the high risk of penalty.

By getting those 3-5 interlinks from the old posts, I’m giving my newly published guest post a head start. The old posts already rank for my keywords, so when they link to my guest post, they pass on their relevance and authority. Within a few days, my guest post is usually ranking somewhere in the top 30-50. That’s already a powerful link! And with a little extra push from some tier 2 links, I’ve successfully ranked in the top 3 for medium to hard niches with just a handful of links.

My goal is always to get my guest post ranking in the top 50 at least. In fact, I’m currently #1 for a medium 27K searches keyword for over a year now with just 18 of these types of guest posts. I haven’t used any other links at all.

Now, I will say that this strategy requires extra work and money. Many bloggers won’t agree to do the interlinking or will ask for more money. But if you keep trying and show them the money, eventually you’ll find someone who’s willing to do it. Trust me, money talks!

I’m not saying this is the best way to use guest posts or that you should follow my approach. I just wanted to share what works for me based on my experience and testing. I’m always trying out new techniques when it comes to SEO and sharing my opinions and strategies.

Hope you found this helpful!
